What are the best ghost tours in Savannah?

• Ghosts and Gravestones (trolley): Boards at the Simply Savannah Depot, 301 East River Street, next to the Lincoln Street ramp. The ride includes after-dark entry to the Andrew Low House and the Perkins and Sons Ship Chandlery. It lasts 1 hour 20 minutes, runs nightly and needs a reservation. The operator rates it PG-13, warns of loud noises and possible strobe lights, and says it isn’t suitable for young children. It also warns that tours sell out the week of October 24–31. Online tickets start at $34.
• Hearse Ghost Tours: An open-air converted hearse that passes Colonial Park Cemetery. Pickup is outside the Owens-Thomas House, 124 Abercorn Street on Oglethorpe Square. The main tour is 75 minutes, all ages, from $48.95. The operator calls it spooky but not graphic, and says riders need to be able to climb into the hearse. There’s also a “Ghost Patrol” ride for kids 13 and under, from $36.95, which the homepage describes as a 40-minute mystery-solving ride.
• Sinister Sins and Shadows (Savannah Terrors): The cheapest option we found: $17 for a 1-hour, 1-mile walk through the oldest squares, at 7 or 8 p.m. The operator bills it as “eerie, not scary.” Its tours meet at Oglethorpe Square, 127 Abercorn Street.
• Bonaventure Cemetery After Hours (Shannon Scott Tours): A 2-hour lantern walk inside Bonaventure after the gates lock, meeting at the caretaker’s house, 330 Bonaventure Road. It starts at $44.95 and includes lanterns and a signed poster. The operator advises it for ages 18 and up because of mature topics. The October 30, October 31 and November 1 tours run 3 hours. Tickets aren’t refundable; the operator offers a later date instead.
• Ghost City Tours (walking, from $29.99): The biggest walking-tour operator in the city runs five Savannah tours nightly. The Grave Tales Tour is the family one: 90 minutes, all ages, 7, 8 and 9 p.m., from $29.99. The Beyond Good and Evil Tour (8, 9 and 10 p.m.) and The Dead of Night Tour (9 and 10 p.m.) are the adults-only walks, 16 and up, 90 minutes, from $34.99; Dead of Night is the one the operator bills as its most intense. The Savannah Haunted Pub Crawl is 21 and up, two hours through four taverns, 7, 8 and 9 p.m., from $34.99. There is also a daytime Bonaventure Cemetery Tour at 11 a.m., 90 minutes, all ages, from $29.99. Tours run rain or shine with a money-back guarantee.
• Sorrel-Weed House, Ghosts of Sorrel Weed: A nightly 1-hour-15-minute tour inside the house and carriage house on Madison Square, led by a storyteller and paranormal investigator. $35, ages 10 and up; meets in the courtyard on the Bull Street side.
• Genteel & Bard, Savannah Dark History & Ghost Encounter: A roughly two-hour, one-mile evening walk with a history-first approach. $35 per person, ages 13 and up only; book online for the start time.

Atlanta ghost tours for Halloween 2026

Atlanta has one big ticketed Halloween event, one nightly walk in Midtown, and three inexpensive weekend walks in its historic suburbs. For more on the city, see things to do in Atlanta.

• Capturing the Spirit of Oakland: Now in its 20th year, this is Oakland Cemetery’s own Halloween event, run by the Historic Oakland Foundation. Costumed storytellers play people buried at Oakland. It runs October 15–18 and 22–25. General admission is $45 for ages 13 and up and $30 for ages 3–12. A $75 premium bundle adds two drink tickets and a program. Tickets are sold in 15-minute entry blocks and aren’t refundable. The route is about 1 mile and takes 75 minutes, and it runs rain or shine. The foundation says the tours are designed “to enlighten, not frighten” and aren’t scary for children. Only service animals are allowed. Some paths are uneven; the foundation says it has made every effort to provide an ADA-accessible route and takes accommodation requests.
• The Burning and the Bound (Atlanta Ghosts): A 1-hour, 1-mile walk through Midtown past the Fox Theatre and Saint Mark United Methodist Church. It costs $26 and meets at Babs Midtown, 814 Juniper Street NE. The operator calls it “more eerie than terrifying.” Its tour page says pets are welcome, drinking isn’t allowed, and the tour isn’t adults-only.
• Roswell Ghost Tour (26th year): A 2-to-2.5-hour, one-mile walk through historic Roswell that departs from the bandstand in the town square (across from the visitor center, 617 Atlanta Street) on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. $20, $10 for children 12 and under, cash or Zelle at the start; a liability waiver is required and tours need six guests to run. The October schedule showed only Oct 2 and 3 when we checked, so book through the reservation form early.
• Ghosts of Marietta, Haunted Walking Tour: A lantern-led walk of about 90 minutes around Marietta Square, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. $17 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under, plus tax; guide gratuity not included. (This is a different operator from the Murders, Myths and Memories tour listed below.)
• Decatur Ghost Tour: Led by psychic medium Boo Newell, a 2-to-2.5-hour, one-mile paved walk from the steps of the Old DeKalb County Courthouse on Decatur Square, starting at 8 p.m. and ending at Old Decatur Cemetery. $20, $12 for children 10 and under; advance reservations required, six-guest minimum. The September calendar showed Saturday dates; October was not posted when we checked.

Getting to Oakland: the foundation strongly encourages rideshare. MARTA’s King Memorial Station is a 7–10 minute walk from the main gate. Onsite parking is limited and costs $20.

Ghost tours in Augusta, Dahlonega, Marietta, Chickamauga and Jekyll Island

• Augusta, Shadows of the South: A downtown walking tour from Augusta Ghosts. Augusta’s visitor bureau lists it daily at 8–9 p.m. through December 31, from 708 Broad Street, at $26 for adults, $17 for youth and free for children. The operator’s own page doesn’t show a price or time outside its booking widget. See also things to do in Augusta.
• Dahlonega, Deadly Departed: $26, 1 hour, 1 mile, at 8 p.m., and billed for all ages year-round. Pair it with our Dahlonega hub.
• Marietta, Murders, Myths and Memories: A walking tour of Marietta’s historic center from the same company (Marietta Ghosts). The page lists 85 Atlanta Street SE.
• Chickamauga, Haunted Heart of Chickamauga: A 2-hour evening walk through downtown from Southern Shadows, for ages 10 and up, from $23. It covers Crawfish Springs, the railroad and the Civil War battle. A 30-minute version, “Ghosts by the Tracks,” is for ages 11 and up.
• Jekyll Island, Gilded Age Ghosts and Ghouls: An after-dark trolley ride to one of the island’s historic homes, ending with costumed “former Club members.” See our Jekyll Island hub for parking and the island fee.
• Augusta, Haunted History Ghost Tour (Augusta Adventure Tours & Events): The locally owned alternative, a roughly two-hour walk of under a mile through downtown, offered most Friday and Saturday evenings. $35, ages 6 and up, and the operator says it is not recommended for small children. Advance paid reservations are by phone only, (706) 993-9263; the operator’s own website was a placeholder when we checked, so these details come from its listing on the Augusta visitor bureau site.

What should you do in your situation?

• With young kids: Oakland’s Capturing the Spirit (billed as not scary, $30 for ages 3–12) or Savannah’s Hearse Ghost Patrol for kids 13 and under. Skip Ghosts and Gravestones (PG-13) and Bonaventure After Hours (advised 18+).
• On a budget: Savannah’s Sinister Sins and Shadows at $17. In Augusta, Augusta’s visitor bureau lists child tickets as free.
• Don’t want to walk far: Ghosts and Gravestones by trolley, or the Hearse Ghost Tour. Both still involve some walking or climbing aboard.
• With a dog: The Atlanta Ghosts tour page says pets are welcome. Oakland allows service animals only.
• Want the real atmosphere: Bonaventure After Hours, inside the cemetery after the gates lock, is the only tour on this list that does that.
• Halloween week: Book early. Ghosts and Gravestones warns that October 24–31 sells out, and Oakland’s tickets are timed.

When do Georgia ghost tours sell out?

Ghosts and Gravestones warns that October sells out and asks guests to book the week of October 24–31 well ahead. Oakland’s Eternal Pass had already sold out on September 24, and its standard tickets are timed. Bonaventure After Hours caps groups at 60. None of the other operators publishes sell-out figures.
