What this page is for
Road distance and free-flow drive time from 7 Southeastern metros to 88 Georgia destinations, so you can check “how far is it” without opening a maps app for every candidate on a shortlist.
- Use it to: compare drive times across several destinations at once, then click through to the guide for parking, cost and dog policy.
- Where the figures come from: OSRM (OpenStreetMap) routing, collected 2026-09-17. No traffic model is applied — see the accuracy note below before using these for a coastal or cross-state trip.
- Known gaps: no Saturday-morning traffic layer yet (needs a paid routing API we haven’t enabled). Long interstate routes run 45–55 minutes short of real-world time on the three routes we spot-checked directly.
- Reuse: figures on this page may be cited or embedded with a link back to this page.

FAQ
How far is it from Atlanta to North Georgia mountain towns like Blue Ridge or Helen?
Blue Ridge is about 93 miles from downtown Atlanta, a free-flow drive of roughly 1 hour 50 minutes. Helen is about 88 miles, roughly 1 hour 52 minutes free-flow. These are short enough routes that our free-flow figures matched a direct check within about 5 minutes — see the accuracy note below.
Are these drive times accurate, or do they ignore traffic?
They are free-flow times: no traffic model applied, computed from OpenStreetMap routing data on the collection date shown. For short mountain and in-state routes they track real-world driving closely. For long interstate routes — especially to the coast — free-flow routing under-counts real travel time by roughly 45–55 minutes on the three routes we spot-checked directly (see the table below). Treat coastal and cross-state free-flow times as a floor, not an estimate of an actual Saturday drive.
Why don't you publish traffic-aware drive times for every route?
Traffic-aware routing needs a paid routing API; we have not enabled one yet. Publishing a modelled Saturday-morning time for all 88 destinations without that data would mean estimating rather than measuring, which this site does not do. This page will add a traffic-modelled column when that data exists, and the free-flow figures will stay so the two can be compared.
Which Georgia destinations are closest to Atlanta?
Among the destinations tracked here, the closest are the Atlanta-metro attractions themselves (Stone Mountain, Kennesaw Mountain, the Chattahoochee River sites), typically under 45 minutes, followed by North Georgia mountain towns at 1.5–2 hours and Athens/Macon at roughly 1–1.5 hours.
How we checked this guide: Dates, hours, admission and parking prices, and access details were verified against the official sources listed below on . Operators change schedules and raise prices without notice, so confirm anything time-sensitive before you drive. The figures in this guide also feed our Georgia Attraction Transparency Index and Family Day-Out Cost Index.
