Athens in November 2026 is built around Georgia home games and the arena: the Bulldogs host Missouri on Saturday, November 14 and Georgia Tech on Saturday, November 28, the Athens Rock Lobsters play at Akins Ford Arena most weekends, and three UGA women’s hockey nights are free (Nov. 7, 8 and 15).
The State Botanical Garden’s Winter WonderLights opens with a ticketed premiere party on Thursday, November 12 and runs regular nights from November 19. Many organizers had not posted 2026 hours or prices on October 16, so this guide says “not posted” instead of guessing.

Which Athens November events are free?
The three UGA Women’s Hockey games at Akins Ford Arena (Nov. 7, 8 and 15) list free admission on the Classic Center’s calendar. The first two are themed nights (Make-a-Wish Night and Girl Scouts Patch Night), and Nov. 15 is Guide Dog Night. Everything else in the table above needs a ticket or a paid parking space.
What is the best weekend to visit Athens in November 2026?
For a family weekend with the most going on, Nov. 20-22: Winter WonderLights runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, and the Rock Lobsters play Friday and Saturday. If you want game-day energy, Nov. 14 (Missouri) and Nov. 28 (Georgia Tech) are home games, and the Classic Center sells parking for both. Expect heavy traffic and hotel demand on those two weekends, so book early.
What is still unconfirmed for Athens in November 2026?
- Winter WonderLights tickets: only the $75 premiere price is on the garden’s event list. Regular-night prices, timed entry and parking were not posted. Call 706-614-1752 or email wonderlights@uga.edu.
- Kickoff and puck times: the pages we read list dates but not times. Check Georgia Athletics and the Classic Center’s “More Info” pages.
- Athens Farmers Market: the market’s site says it has live music at both its Wednesday and Saturday markets (Saturdays 8-10 a.m. and 10 a.m.-noon, Wednesdays 6-8 p.m.). We did not confirm its November hours or location, so check the market’s site before going.
- Downtown Parade of Lights: the county’s page lists Thursday, December 3 at 7 p.m., rain or shine. It is a December event, so it is not in the table.
